Air Raid Shelter Restoration
Our school is fortunate to have a restored Second World War air raid shelter available for pupils to use as part of their History lessons.
Having sat unused for decades, our raid raid shelter was restored in time for the school's 150th anniversary celebrations in May 2025. Pupils are able to spend time in the shelter imagining what it would have been like to be evacuated there during the war.
We know it was used during air raids, partly due to evidence from the school's log book, but also from first hand accounts of pupils who attended the school.
Each year we hold an open day where members of the public are invited to listen to talks and see the air raid shelter for themselves.
For more information please contact Mr Bryant via the school office.
